What is Home Automation?
Home automation is the application of computer science and electronics to the management of the home.
Home automation plays a very important role in making devices, systems, and installations intelligent. For example, a smart electrical system can self-regulate the switching on of appliances so as not to exceed the threshold that would trip the meter.
With "smart home" we refer to an environment - properly designed and technologically equipped - which provides the user with systems that go beyond the "traditional," where devices and systems are able to perform partially autonomous functions (according to reactions to fixed and predetermined environmental parameters) or programmed by the user or, recently, completely autonomous (according to reactions to environmental parameters directed by dynamic programs that are created or improved through self-learning).
At a higher level, we talk about building automation or "building automation." The smart building, with the support of new technologies, allows coordinated, integrated, and computerized management of technological systems (climate control, water, gas, and energy distribution, security systems), IT networks, and communication networks, in order to improve management flexibility, comfort, safety, and to improve the quality of living and working inside buildings. It should be noted that home automation does not always allow energy savings in private homes , in fact the system's own consumption could increase the home's energy needs. Thanks to home automation, systems of this kind can be used in other contexts such as: hospitals, homes for people with disabilities, or in companies to manage night lighting, supervise a photovoltaic system, etc…
