Industrial Electrical Systems
Industrial electrical systems are simply systems with significant power compared to residential electrical systems. The introduction of Law 46/90, amended by Ministerial Decree 37/08 of January 22, 2008, finally established clear rules regarding the safety of electrical systems at every level.
In industrial systems, the aim was to protect first and foremost the operator, who had to use the machines for production, and the entire electrical system to ensure continuity and safety through the installation of residual current circuit breakers for every type of earth leakage and circuit breakers for every user load, to protect the electrical cables. In addition, copper cable windings have been adapted to prevent the spread of toxic fumes in case of fire.
The introduction of Law 46/90 also required the adoption of earthing, thus allowing the protection of operators in case of current leakage through the use of residual current devices.
Nowadays, deaths from electric shock in the Italian industrial sector are very rare; fires attributed to short circuits, although still present, are 90% arson and 10% due to lack of maintenance.
An industrial electrical system, precisely because of the importance attributed to this sector, must be designed from the outset, executed with professional expertise by qualified technicians, and above all must already be prepared to be adapted in anticipation of possible company expansion.
Even in these places, but especially in this type of system, it is important to provide for systems that include the use of renewable energy, which allows for the reduction of electricity, heating/cooling, and hot water production costs.
